Why Ronda Rousey Might Not Fight Miesha Tate Next

UFC fighter, Miesha Tate, who recently became the women’s bantam weight champion after choking out Holly Holm on Saturday March 5th, is due some big money for her next fight and title defense against what’s now set to be the recuperating former champion Ronda Rousey but it seems Miesha may be growing too impatient to wait for Ronda to heal.

The UFC’s president Dana White confirmed that Rousey is her next contender but he also did the same once for a Holly and Ronda rematch in the aftermath of her shocking knockout of Rousey last November. Tate seems unwilling to wait until the fall for her next match.

“I haven’t decided yet, honestly,” Tate told Fox Sports. “I am the champion, I definitely want to stay active, I want to defend my belt, I want to continue to prove myself. … I’m ready to take on all comers, so I think that’s the champion’s job. I’ll stay ready so I don’t have to get ready.”

Miesha has already lost twice to Ronda the last time being in December of 2013. Miesha Tate was Ronda Rousey’s first ever opponent to even make it out of the first round, she did however end up being submitted in an armbar lock in the third round.

“I’m still letting it all soak in and I’m trying to enjoy this moment,” Miesha said, “but eventually, probably after this week I’m going to sit down and talk to my management and see what exactly is next for me and what’s best.”

If Miesha can’t wait for Ronda to heal perhaps we’ll get to see a Miesha Tate vs Holly Holm rematch before we see a Miesh Tate vs Ronda Rousey fight this year.
