On a recent episode of the “Reasonable Doubt” podcast hosted by celebrity attorney Mark Geragos and comedian Adam Carolla, the two discussed recent high profile developments in the case that have transpired outside of the court room. In recent weeks music star Kesha has received support from some very famous allies in her lawsuit against Sony and music producer Dr Luke which alleges she was raped by him. Kesha’s lawyer Mark Geragos talks about how support from Kelly Clarkson, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift are helping aid his case. Adam Carolla chimed in and likened it to the Bill Cosby rape allegations being strengthened by more victims coming forward. So far these celebrity allies have only helped outside the courtroom but Mark hinted that he may call on Kelly Clarkson to take the stand and help them inside the courtroom.
Taylor Swift Donated $250,000 to Kesha’s case
“I’ve run into a couple really bad situations. Musically, it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people. It’s like ‘What?’ It makes the artist look bad. He’s difficult to work with, kind of demeaning, it’s kind of unfortunate. People are like well you’ve worked with Max [Martin] and Luke and I’m like Max and Luke are very different. Obviously the dude is a talented guy but character-wise, no. I only worked with him – even the last time I worked with him – because literally I got blackmailed by my label. They were like we will not put your album out if you don’t do this.”
“I feel like she’s being very publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men. I just want to stand by her side because I can’t watch another woman that went through what I’ve been through suffer.”
Here is a transcription of some of Mark’s statements.
“The Music industry has to be one of the most mysogynistic industries there are and the people whoI knew coming forward were not of A level status who had encoutered this guy but now Kelly Clarkson and now with Lady Gaga who’s been unrelenting.
She was black mailed into working with him.
She’s echoing exactly what I’d been arguing in the paper work for the injunction so
That’s helpful, Gaga is helpful, Taylor Swift is helpful. All of these are people that have worked with this guy and understand it.”
Later Adam asks Mark “Is there a possibility… that it get’s to the point where Kelly Clarkson get’s subpeoned has to take the stand?” to which Mark responds “yea that’s absolutely possible, I’ll tell you next week, we’ll know a lot more next week.”. What do you think? Will Kelly Clarkson end up taking the stand against Dr Luke? Let us know in the comments and listen to the full audio below.
